Summer 2015 To-Do-List Update

Now that everyone knows I am pregnant after last weeks blog post, “Never Say Never,” I figured it was about time to update my Summer 2015 To-Do-List post from May 13th of this year.  Given our exciting news this list took a back seat as I navigated the first trimester of pregnancy.

If you missed it, some of my adventures were captured on by blog:  Color ME Rad 5kmLongest Day 10km Road Race, Scotiabank Half Marathon, Camping in the Shuswap.Summer Todolist Update

The other adventures will have to be postponed until a later date. I discovered I was pregnant July 16, 2015.  This was confirmed by a Doctors appointment, two ultrasounds and several follow up Doctors visits. Between the surprise of the news, and the world-wind of appointments the remainder of our July was consumed adjusting to the news.

July and August found me in the middle of the first trimester of pregnancy.  I was very fortunate that I didn’t experience morning sickness, only mild nausea that lasted a week at most.  The biggest symptom for me was being tired;  I mean and overwhelming exhaustion which had me napping in  my my car before I could safely  drive to my next destination. In addition to this I started experiencing  breathlessness with even the simplest of tasks,  leaving me frustrated and more tired. The last symptom was  congestion, I discovered  I have  nasal polyps at the same time I discovered I was pregnant.  Until after pregnancy my only method of treatment is a saline rinse.  The Doctor warned me with the increase in blood volume during pregnancy and the mucus membrane in the nose, the congestion would get worse.

So between being tired, breathless, and congested, understandably I didn’t feel motivated to complete many of the hiking and outdoor activities on my list. However on the plus side I did get to hear the the 117BPM fluttering heart beat of our miracle baby at 6 weeks and 3 days 🙂 and I did get to plan a super family vacation to Disneyland that I will be reviewing this week.
