What Is a Wellness Lifestyle?

WellnessThere is no disputing the importance of exercises, nutrition, and a little R&R when it comes to health and wellness.  These are all key factors in a “Healthy Lifestyle,” the key word here being LIFESTYLE.

But there is a next step in health and wellness that doesn’t get nearly enough attention- “HealthCARE.”  This can be achieved through a proactive approach to medical care, informed self-care, and reduce exposure to synthetics.  In this post I am going to review the steps I have been taking, and the new ones I am implementing as part of my Wellness Lifestyle.

Staying on Track During the Holidays

Staying on Track during the holidaysWhatever you are celebrating this December, the holidays are a time to unwind, relax and celebrated holiday traditions.  All of this unwinding, relaxing, and holiday tradition seems to create and endless to-do-list and a multitude of social event.

The holidays are supposed to be a time where you enjoy comfort foods. You tend to relax a bit more than usual and share happiness with your loved ones.  Except… you are usually filled with guilt and shame about what you ate  and your lack of exercise.

My Favorite Fall Self-Care Activities

Fall self-careThe weather is getting chillier, the air is crisp, and the days are  getting shorter, making it the perfect time of year to reflect on some self-care goals for fall.

Self-care is one of those things that gives back exponentially with time — the longer we practice, the more we get out of it. And since stress is a an unavoidable part of life and parenthood.  Honoring our self-care practices, while honing our ability to respond to everyday challenges in healthy proactive ways, makes all the difference.

Seriously, learning how to deal with stress while taking great care of ourselves is an absolutely key skill set for life, and #adulting in general.

To Carb or not to Carb…….

Low CarbAs a personal trainer and fitness leader I am regularly asked my opinion on the latest diet fad, including my thoughts on carbs an low carb diets.

Given that I am not a dietitian…this is admittedly not my area of expertise.  However armed with the knowledge I do have  and over fifteen years of experience both personally and professionally in the fitness industry.   I feel can confidently provide my opinion on the “Low Carb” question.
