The BMO Marathon- It more than just a race

The best thing about a race is the opportunity to really test yourself… ok that’s a lie, the best thing is the energy of the running community and the inspiring display of humanity, followed up with a post-race celebratory beer and your favorite meal with friends or family.

This past Sunday I completed my 6th BMO Marathon Event, and historically I always post a race recap to help you decide if it’s the right race for you.   Things like if there are lot of hills or uneven surfaces,  Or if they skimp on porta potties.  All the things that matter, and of course detail about how the race went for me.

This year instead of the same tired race recap I am going to share a few of my favorite memories from BMO events over the last six year, highlighting what makes it more than just a race.

2019 Vancouver Eastside 10km – Race Recap

Vancouver Eastside Race recapThis was my second year participating in the Canadian Running Series  Vancouver Eastside 10km  The last time I participated was back in 2015 when I was  secretly 14 or 15 weeks pregnant.  I stopped to use every loo on the course,and a 1:22 finish. 2019 St. Patricks Day 5km- Race Recap

St. Patty 5kmLast Saturday March 16, 2019  I  participated 3rd BMO St. Patrick’s Day 5km as part of The Great Little Box Companies Corporate team.  This is the perfect event if you like like running/ walking , having fun…..Oh, and Beer!  Read on for my race recap.

High profile sponsors like BMO, Running Room, Saucony, and Granville Island Brewing helped to make this race a top-notch event.  A team from the Stanley Park Ecological Society  held a bag check by donation, which I understand was well managed with reasonable lines.

Race communication and directions were clear and concise.  With limited parking and road closures  participants were encouraged to  take public transportation, or park outside the park.

2018 BMO Half Marathon- Race Recap

2018 BMO half Race RecapYesterday  I completed my 3rd BMO  half-marathon.  Voted Vancouver’s best, the BMO Vancouver Half Marathon is an extremely fast course.  From start to finish this race is top rate,  taking you through different neighborhoods on your journey to the Finish Line.  Chinatown to  Yaletown, to the beautiful West End.  You experience historic landmarks, breathtaking views, vibrant communities, and my personal favorite, thousands of spectators cheering you towards the  finish line!

2018 BMO St. Patrick’s Day 5km- Race Recap

2018 BMO St. Patrick's Day 5kmLast Saturday March 17, 2018  I  put a little Irish in my step and participated in my second BMO St. Patrick’s Day 5km This is the perfect event if you like like running/ walking , having fun,  and Beer!  Read on for my race recap.

High profile sponsors like BMO, Running Room, Saucony, and Granville Island Brewing helped to make this race a top-notch event.  A team from the Stanley Park Ecological Society  held a bag check by donation, which I understand was well managed with reasonable lines.

Race communication and directions were clear and concise.  With limited parking and road closures  participants were encouraged to  take public transportation,Mobi bike, carpool or park outside the park.  Mobi provided a Free 24 hour race day pass to all participants and Evo provided a free trial with 45 minutes of driving included.
