2018 Granville Island Turkey Trot

2018 Race recapIf you’ve been following along on social media then you know that Sweets and I participated in the Granville Island Turkey Trot, last weekend. This run has all my favorite “F” words….its a Family Friendly, Fun 10K run/walk hosted by RUNVAN.®

Its a beautiful 10KM course that starts at Granville Island and loops over the Burrard Bridge to the north side Seawall before turning at Science World and heading back along the south side Seawall, finishing at Performance Works on Granville Island.

It was our second time participating and it seems to be a run that doesn’t disappoint.  Read on for my race recap.

LIKES:

  • Lively and fun ambiance –  many turkey and pumpkin pie costumes…..I even saw a Squirrel this year
  •  Route– Despite the drizzle the route is inspiring, making for an easy 10km.
  • Kilometer markers – Clearly marked which was helpful motivation with a Little.
  • Race entry supports local charity- enough said

DISLIKES:.

  • Finish Line Space-  The finish line was tight for space making it tricky to navigate with a jogging stroller.  Here is my finish-line video, a great clip,  kudos to the RUNVAN.® videographer.  It doesn’t really show just how narrow the finish-line is, but either way  if this is my only dislike then I think we have a WIN overall. 😉

New this Year!!

2018 Granville Island Turkey Trot

I was absolutely thrilled that they offered official stroller bibs for any Little’s being pushed.  Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, for my Little’s first race bib!! 🙂

WOULD I DO the Turkey Trot AGAIN? Absolutely!  It’s a fun race for non-runners and PB-seekers alike, providing a great way to burn off those Thanksgiving calories while giving back to the community.

How about you?  Going to come and shake a Tail-feather with us next year?
