My First Month as a Mom

New MomThis past month as a new Mom has been an absolute blur., you can read all about that here.   I’ve cried, I’ve laughed, and I’ve been able to function with minimal sleep.  At times I have never been more happy in my entire life, and at other times I have never been more frustrated.  I think the best advice I’ve read lately from Austin Moms Blog is, You need to lower your expectations…..then probably lower them again.” It’s taken me 24 days to write this post, and that’s OK, I have managed to get dressed almost every day 😉 Continue reading

2016 Goals

2016 GoalsFor the past couple of years I have set goals for 6 categories; personal, family, business, health, spiritual, and financial. I am changing up the categorizes slightly for my 2016 goals; fitness, family, fun, business, and financial.

I am setting my 2016 goals with apprehension; I am uncertain what to expect for this coming year and the changes it will bring. It seems self-defeating to be setting goals for a life that I am familiar with while preparing to enter unfamiliar territory.
With that being said, I will continue to maintain my goal setting practices with the optimism that I will be able to find a hybrid between the present and the future. So without further ado, my 2016 goals…..

2015 Goals Recap

2015 Goals

2015 Goals

The end of the year provides a wonderful opportunity to look back on the last year of experiences and reflect on how they have shaped and changed us.  It also signals the start of a new and exciting year full of possibility and adventure.

Soon I’ll share my goals for 2016 but before I do its good practice to first to look back on the year.  Celebrate successes, acknowledge areas where I may have fallen short,  identify what I can improve upon,  and simply reflect on the year and the impact it has made.

Exercise During Pregnancy

Since my last post outlining my experience of the first 20 weeks of pregnancy I’ve had tons of questions about how pregnancy has effected my exercise routine.  So here it is, my approach to exercise during pregnancy.Exercise while Pregnant

When I unexpectedly found out I was pregnant,  I was scared and nervous about all the changes that lie ahead, BUT I adapted. I realized that despite all odds this little egg managed to burrow into my uterine lining while I was training for, and ran, a half marathon.  This knowledge reassured me that this little baby was going to be strong and resilient, and by continuing with my exercise routine I would be keeping it safe and healthy. I openly discuss my fitness routine with my family doctor and Obstetrician, both were supportive and encouraging explaining that exercise will not only make labour and recovery easier on me, but for baby too! I want to preface by saying that I worked out 5-6 days a week for 60-90 minutes a day, in addition to teaching a minimum of 2 indoor cycling classes a week before  becoming pregnant. I wouldn’t recommended starting a new exercise routine once you’re pregnant, and of course be sure to run everything by your OB first.
