Plan a 4th Birthday that is Loads of Fun!

I don’t know about you but I think Birthday parties are like road trips: getting there is half the fun. Deciding on the theme, decorations, and activities makes the days leading up to the event seem like part of the celebration itself. It doesn’t need to be elaborate or expensive kids will be happy as long as they are made to feel special.  That said even a simple party requires planning; the sooner you start organizing, the earlier the excitement begins and the fewer details you’ll have to work out on the day itself.

Read on for All the deets to plan a 4th birthday including invitation, and decoration inspiration for a party that is Loads fun” for adults and kids alike.

If you know us, I mean, outside of the blosphere, then you know in addition to firetrucks Sweets  loves “diggers” and tools,  and this years theme was diggers.  This was easy because I was able to make my own decorations and supplement with his  toys.  Combined with the perfect location for free play this was a party that was “loads of fun” for adults and kids alike.

INVITATIONS:

I sent out the invites via email, Facebook and I printed a few the old fashion way.

Location:

CONNECT THE DOTS ACTIVITY CENTREThis year we chose to celebrate at Connect the Dots Activity Center on Fraser Street in Vancouver. The center is relatively new celebrating its one-year anniversary in April

We held a 3-hour private party with children thirteen children ranging in age from 1-5 and it was FANTASTIC!!

Its clean and has charming décor throughout.  With many areas with different themes to keep any toddler interested. There is a ball-pit, a pretend kitchen, firetruck with steering-wheels and controls, a dress-up area, different “houses,” a climbing cave, slide, book-nook and more.

There is a huge kitchen and YOU CAN BRING YOUR OWN FOOD AND DRINK which is Amazing!  The kitchen is in the back and it has child and adult-sized tables/chairs, a fridge, microwave and kettle that are all free to use so you don’t have to tear the kids away from the fun to go eat. It should also be noted that I multiple parents comment on the relaxing music that was playing throughout the party.

If you are looking to hold a birthday party, I highly recommend checking out Connect the Dots

DÉCOR:

The table came together quick.  As I mentioned the decorations were existing toys, we had in the house.  I was able to generate a lot of it myself between the computer and existing supplies from my crafting cupboard so it really didn’t take much effort at all.

4th Birthday

FOOD:

Since the party was early morning to lunch, I decided to make it a snack party……who doesn’t love noshing on all their favorite snacks?!

  • Juice boxes4th birthday
  • Turkey pepperoni sticks
  • Cheese strings
  • Fish crackers
  • Veggies Straws
  • Fruit tray
  • Veggie tray
  • Birthday Cake

Being that the party started at 9:30 on the morning of a time change (whose brilliant idea was that) we had coffee and Timbits available for the parents.

GOODIE BAGS:

Each child left the party with their own construction lunch-bag and  personalized hard hat.4th Birthday

Gifts

We decided to go the same route as last year and asked his friends to bring 2 toonies ( $4.00) rather than gifts.  Since Sweets is fascinated with firetrucks and fireman I decided last year he would donate half of his birthday money to the Richmond Fire-Rescue CPFFA Burn Fund and he can pick our a small gift with the other half.   This also provides the added bonus of visiting the fire hall and getting to see the firetruck.

Hope you found some 4th birthday inspiration here!  I hope your party is loads of fun!
