Cheers to New Years!

New Year’s Eve is like the celebrity when it comes to days of the year!

When  we are younger,  we hear people talk excitedly about the New Year celebrations they’d be having, the TV specials they’d be watching, the New Year’s Eve ball drop and countdown they’d be awaiting.  Patiently anticipating the day when we would finally be old enough to stay up late and enjoy all the magic ourselves.  Then finally when we are old enough to enjoy the thrill  of it all the novelty only last a few year.  Only to be renewed again when you reach the legal age of majority,  but this novelty eventually wears off too.

But now I know better, and have come to appreciate New Years for what it really is……

What does it mean to me?

Now, I see that there is so much more to New Years than a grand celebration, or countdown.

New Years is the best reminder of how blessed I am.  It provides the opportunity to look back on on all of my experiences with a smile, and face the year that is to come with my head held high.

I’ll admit it; I have a bad habit of dwelling on the things that don’t work out. But  something about New Years reminds me that my struggles, difficulties, and shortcomings have allowed me to grow as a person, and have left me more equipped to handle whatever may lie ahead.

New Year’s Eve, a seemingly arbitrary day has become a day of reflection, gratitude,  and a call for continuous improvement.  It brings with it the knowledge that although everyday can’t be perfect, at the very least it can be better than the day before it.

What does New Years mean to you?

Cheers to New YearsMy New Years CHeers!

  • Cheers to this past year of sleepless toddler rearing nights. Short tempers and big moods.
  • Cheers to all the deadlines I almost didn’t meet.
  • Cheers to each and every one of my  2018 accomplishments, and every lesson I’ve learned along the way.
  • Cheers to the days I thought I wouldn’t make it, but ended up surpassing even my own expectations
  • Cheers to the friends I never saw coming, but are now people I can’t imagine living without

But most of all, CHEERS to getting the chance to do it all over again.

Happy New Years!
